She Wasn't Getting Any Money
She said I wasn't paying. I have the receipts. She posted the rest herself.

The version of events that circulated was this: Steve wasn’t paying. The children were going without because their father had stopped supporting them.
I paid every payment. Child support. Spousal support. On time. In full. I have the records.
I also have something else.
The Receipts
Every payment cleared. California state records show it, entry by entry. I kept copies because something in my early experience told me to.
What the records don’t capture is the version that traveled elsewhere. Through conversations I wasn’t in. Through years of accumulation. Through what our children came to understand had happened.
I paid. The record shows it.
October 2011
In October 2011, that photograph appeared publicly on Facebook. A new red Audi A4 Cabriolet. A convertible.
The payments continued. I kept receipts for all of it.
The photographs show what else was happening.
The Good Works
Some time later, there was a trip to Costa Rica. The reason given, publicly, was charity: 150 pounds of donated school supplies, medical supplies, and oral hygiene materials for children in need.
The caption describes generosity. It describes tears. It describes community.

The red bag at the bottom of that photograph is a medical bag I owned when I volunteered with the fire department as an EMT. I know the bag. I know the buckles and the color and the way it sits when loaded. When I asked about it, I was told she didn’t have it. She didn’t know where it was. She couldn’t return what she didn’t have.
The photograph was taken during that trip. The bag is in the photograph.
Costa Rica
The trip wasn’t only charity. These photographs were also posted publicly from Costa Rica.

That description isn’t mine. I didn’t need to characterize the resort. She wrote the caption.
I was told there was no money. The resort, the convertible, the photographs: I didn’t put these together to build a case. They were already public. They were already there.
The Photograph
The photograph in the next image belongs to me. I took it at one of the boys’ rugby matches during court-appointed visitation time. I sent it to her.
She posted it on Facebook.

I took that photograph. I was there. I paid for the equipment. I drove them to the tournament. That was court-appointed visitation time, which I showed up for.
She posted my photograph. The caption registered, as I read it, a public disagreement with what I was doing with our sons. Made to her publicly. Using a picture I took of my own sons at an event she didn’t attend.
I’ll leave what that cost to the reader’s imagination.
The Record
I didn’t need to make a case. The case made itself.
The receipts show what I paid. The public record shows what was purchased, where the trips went, what was photographed and captioned and posted for the public to see.
The bag I owned when I volunteered with the fire department as an EMT is in that photograph. I know because I packed it myself. I know the buckles. I know the color.
I was told she didn’t have it.
The photograph was already there.
I kept the receipts because I knew this day would come.
Why This Exists
There are researchers who study what happens inside families like mine. There are parents sitting with documentation right now that they don’t know what to do with, inside legal systems that seem indifferent to it. There are children who will one day want to understand what the record actually shows, separate from what they were told.
I kept this for over a decade. Quietly. Because the timing wasn’t right and I was told that patience and documentation would eventually matter.
If any part of this is useful to a researcher, a policy conversation, a court advocate, or a legislative effort to change how financial claims work in high-conflict divorce: that is enough. If it helps one parent recognize what is happening to them before twelve years have passed: that is more than I expected when I started keeping records.
The patterns documented here have names in the academic literature. I didn’t know that when I was living inside them. I know it now. I am publishing this so others find out sooner, and so the record exists somewhere it can be read.
I offer this documentation to the researchers mapping how these patterns operate. To the parents who need to recognize the warning signs before the wall is built. And to the body of evidence that might, eventually, force the law to value a receipt over a story.
Author's Note: This article is a work of personal nonfiction based on my own memory, correspondence, and documentation. It reflects my individual perspective and experience as I understood events at the time, and is not intended as legal or psychological advice. All financial records referenced are the author's personal payment documentation. All photographs and social media posts reproduced in this article were voluntarily posted to publicly accessible platforms by their original posters and were accessible to any member of the public at the time they were posted. They are reproduced for purposes of personal nonfiction, documentary commentary, and accountability, not for commercial gain. No images were obtained from private accounts, private communications, or any non-public source. Identifying details of third parties have been redacted.
A Note on Gender: While I write this from my perspective as a father speaking about an ex-wife, the behaviors of alienation and high-conflict control are gender-neutral. If you are a mother experiencing this, simply swap the pronouns; the pain and the patterns are exactly the same.

I still have evidence too. FB and Insta posts, emails and text messages, 174 pages of Our Family Wizard NONSENSE. She called me hundreds of times as "unknown caller". Tried to get me in trouble at work. Said I ruined her marriage. She fixated on me, punished her Ex, and abused her children. We have proof from a forensic psychologist, counselors, and psychiatrists. On behalf of my fiance' and his beautiful daughters, whom I now consider my own, I will hold on to everything with the hope that someone, some day, would be willing to read it all and learn from it. These women and the torture they inflict needs to end. Fathers need resources to combat it. Family courts need education.
Men do this too, but we all know alienation is a mostly female problem. They're all the same. Different names, different states. Identical psychopathy.
🙏🏼
This is such a powerful post. The contrast to the narrative that the kids were hearing compared to what she was doing real time. Trips to help children that included partying and hot springs, the new car, the false statements about your items you asked for that she said she didn’t have BUT SHE DID is so sad and pathetic. To flat out tell your kids you are not getting money from their dad, when in fact there are receipts and then taking that money she “didn’t get” and booking trips, buying cars etc. shows how broken the legal system is. They don’t care that there is a woman basically causing fraud while alienating her children. I am so sad that parents do this. So sad that children grow up and never once think to question. Just take the alienators word at face value. This is terrible and you are a saint for highlighting this and I hope many who are going through the same thins see this. Data shows 22 million American parents are victims to alienating behavior and 3.8 MILLION children are moderately to severely alienated from a parent. What is this doing to our society?
