Sometimes I'm still surprised how Targeted Parents share incredibly similar events. The kids do become robotic and devoid of spirit. The Alienating Parent will go to any length to gain support, sympathy and control.
Yep, I'm still pretty angry about it... on behalf of all of us.
Wendy has been awesome - she'd say she was just there. That's usually how it works with the people who actually hold things together.
The robotic part is the thing I couldn't name for a long time. It's not kids/teenagers being checked out. It's specific. The fact that you've seen it in someone else's situation and recognized it on sight matters more than I can say here.

You're so lucky to have Wendy in your life. My family is the same for me. They witnessed my ex husband's alienation firsthand. When you said having a third party helps you feel like your perspective is true, I felt that in my chest. Alienation is coercive control and manipulation and gaslighting on a grand scale. I felt like I was crazy for years because it seemed like I was the only one seeing his mindgames. But eventually everyone else in my family saw it too. It's great to be backed up and believed. It heals something inside
